    Easy to harden
- TENASTEEL® is heat treated in the same temperature range as conventional steels
(X160 CrMoV12/D2),
- TENASTEEL®, as well as X160 CrMoV12/D2, shall be double tempered,
- Better aim 58/60 HRC to optimize toughness and better dimensional stability.

    TENASTEEL® allows high tempering temperature
- Improved dimensional stability in service (low level of retained austenite),
- Reduced distortions during EDM cutting after hardening,
- Compatibility with any process of surface treatment (nitriding) and coating (PVC/CVD).

    Surface treatment & coating

    TENASTEEL® is compatible with :
- nitriding (Gaseous, Ionic, Salt Bath)
- PVD
- PA-CVD
- CVD

Surface treatment and coatings (except CVD) shall be conducted at a temperature 20°C below tempering temperature.

Substrate quality :
Example of nitriding at 525°C
Samples hardened to 60 HRC before nitriding

No softening of the core of
TENASTEEL® pieces
Better diffusion of nitrogen on
TENASTEEL® pieces
